We Also Fight Windmills at Curiously in Berwick-upon-Tweed

The second stop for the travelling exhibition We Also Fight Windmills was at my pop-up gallery, Curiously, in Berwick-upon- Tweed over the summer of 2024.

The show featured work by 27 artists, each responding to the literary photobook I Also Fight Windmills by Ania Ready. I re-curated the work to fit into a small former shop in an 18th century building. As well as utilising the existing counters that were used when it was a gift shop I built a colourful temporary wooden wall to hang the work.

We Also Fight Windmills brought together a rich tapestry of photography, collage, embroidery, and poetry — each piece a reflection on the life and work of the forgotten feminist writer Sophie Gaudier-Brzeska.

We Also Fight Windmills featured the work of: Madalina Androne, Viktoria Binges, Karen Block, Sarah Capel, Ruthie Collins, Emma Davies, Jonathan Dayman, Amanda Denny, Caitriona Dunnett, Gehrett Ellis, Francesco Falciani, Laurence Harding, Irmgard Hueppe, Lisa Kalloo, Mich Maroney, Lu Mazen, Mills, Etain O’Carroll, Paulina Poświata, Ania Ready, Ania Rolinska, Sue Saunders, Julie Sleaford, Teresa Smith, Monika Sosnowski, Mary Beth Willis, Elżbieta Wójcik-Leese
